Fining is often considered an obsolete practice. Even though this is partially true, it remains the only and the most effective solution to reach wine stability and sensory balance in the most difficult circumstances.

Clarification aims to improve the visual and organoleptic characteristics of the wine. If physical technologies such as centrifugation and filtration are not able to be used, often the elimination of substances responsible for organoleptic instability and imbalance is achieved only through the use of clarifiers. Clarification, therefore, is a crucial practice of the winemaking process on which a large part of the final quality of the wine can depend.
These operations normally rely on the use of animal proteins, such as casein, gelatin, egg albumin, isinglass and fish gelatin. However, due to the allergenic potential of animal proteins, there is increasing interest in developing alternative solutions using fining proteins extracted from plants.

    Plantis AF

    Plantis Af is a vegan and allergen-free fining agent for the clarification and stabilization of wine.
    The plant protein makes it especially effective for removing:

    • both oxidized and/or easily oxidizable phenolic substances
    • tannins
    • iron

    Therefore, the use of Plantis AF provides a younger color to wine, increases aromatic cleanliness and freshness, reduces the sensation of bitterness and gives wine greater longevity.
    Plantis AF does not contain allergenic compounds and is not required to be listed on wine labels and can be used in the production of wines destined for consumption by vegetarians and vegans.

    Plantis AF – Q

    Plantis AF- Q is a vegan and allergen-free fining agent and is a new fining agent for the clarification and stabilization of must and wine.
    The synergistic action between the hydrolyzed vegetable protein and chitosan increases the flocculant capacity and efficacy in:

    • improving clarity
    • removing oxidized and easily oxidizable phenolic substances
    • reducing the tannin content
    • reducing the iron content

    The use of Plantis AF-Q helps preserve young color, increase aromatic cleanliness and freshness, reduces bitterness and astringency and increases wine longevity.
