Enartis’ Commitment to a Sustainable Present and Future Innovation

Enartis is committed to protecting resources, reducing waste and emissions and making wine production sustainable. Find out the areas of our commitment to sustainable innovation.

Environmental sustainability is a topic dear to winemakers: the wine industry has been among the first to experience the often devastating effects of climate change and feel the need for change.
Today winemakers are called to accept the challenge of sustainability at every stage of the supply chain; from the cultivation of grapes and harvest to the production of wine.

Enartis’ Commitment to Sustainable Wine Production

Enartis is committed to offering technical and specialized support to help the wine industry complete its green and eco-friendly revolution.

1. Management of resources for responsible consumption
Wine production depends almost entirely on natural resources, such as water. Enartis works every day to reduce the consumption of process water from deep aquifers in favor of the use of water from surface stratum, which is of less value, and engages in the treatment of wastewater which is purified and released into surface water.
Moreover, we’re committed to a conscious and low-impact energy supply: this is why we recover thermal energy from the production processes to produce new zero-emission electricity. In addition, all of our machinery is equipped with an inverter system that allows us to optimize electricity consumption based on real needs.

2. Emission and waste reduction
CO2 emissions are harmful, as are SO2 emissions relating to wine production. Due to innovative formulas, Enartis has offered antioxidant and antimicrobial alternatives to sulfur dioxide for years. This has allowed us to drastically decrease our own emissions far below the limit prescribed by the Industrial Emissions Directive (Directive 2010/75/EU of the European Parliament and the Council on industrial emissions.
Moreover, a hazardous waste reduction program has made it possible to recover 30% of our waste, saving on disposal costs. Plastic packaging has been completely replaced by recyclable, biodegradable and forest friendly mono-materials as evidenced by the logo of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) present on our packaging.

3. Research and sustainable products
Every year, Enartis invests € 2M in research and innovation in order to develop products and services with an even lower environmental impact. Zenith, the latest addition to the Enartis family, represents a real, green revolution in tartrate stabilization guaranteeing a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions and 80% of energy and drinking water during the wine stabilization process.

4. Social and economic sustainability
Sustainability is not only environmental, but also socio-economic: Enartis is committed to protecting the safety and health of our staff by joining the voluntary Responsible Care program, which allows companies to monitor risk factors and improve safety and health of their workplaces, as well as the Workplace Health Promotion program, to raise awareness of health both inside and outside the workplace.

5. Our certifications
As evidence of our constant commitment, Enartis is proud to adhere to the voluntary international UNI ES ISO 14001:2015 certification to design a business management system to protect the environment by limiting the negative impacts of production on the planet.
